What we read out from Audis

More than half of the Audi models on our list are plug-in hybrids. Those battery packs are small and are fully charged and drained daily, causing them to age differently than a fully electric battery. This is precisely where two cars from the same year of manufacture can differ widely.

  • The SOH percentage: the actual capacity compared to the factory value

  • The cell balance: the voltage difference between the weakest and the strongest cell

  • The charging history: how often it has been fast-charged and how deeply it has been discharged

  • The warranty status of the battery pack

  • A comparison with similar cars of the same year of manufacture

Everything comes directly from the battery management system via the OBD port. No estimation based on age or mileage. Within three minutes, the CARA-certified certificate is ready, as a PDF and as a JPEG.

Which Audis we can test

The e-tron and Q4 e-tron are highly readable; for the TFSIe plug-ins, you should pay particular attention to the cell balance. In total, there are 38 Audi versions in our list, divided across 21 model groups, including Q4 e-tron MY21-26, A3 TFSIe Plug-in MY21+, and A6 e-tron.

In a plug-in hybrid, the battery is small relative to its usage. The pack goes through full charge and discharge cycles more often than in a fully electric car, and that takes its toll. Consequently, two Audis from the same year of manufacture with the same mileage can differ significantly. You cannot see this from the outside, nor can you tell from the odometer.

The measurement is carried out via the OBD port. You will receive the SOH percentage, the cell balance, the warranty status, the charging history, and a comparison with similar vehicles, summarized in a CARA-certified certificate as a PDF and a JPEG.
